142 South West - updated 1st May 2008
A site as random as the sight of a 142 running around Dawlish...!
Email SLC9T9@hotmail.com to contribute anything Pacer related, if I receive anything I might expand the site (lol).
My excuse is photographic experimentation and of course nothing to do with the guilty pleasures of a brief ride on a 142...

1st May 2008

142064, at Exeter St Davids on 28/04/08, has had a much more extensive refurbishment of its interior than has so far been seen on the FGW 142s, here you can see the doors are now painted magenta, and that the cab walls have been repainted lilac, matching the repainted toilets. The interior roof and side window surrounds - previously cream - along with the interior saloon side of the bulkhead wall seperating the saloon from the cab have also been painted a lilac shade, a lighter hue than its previous blue.
Since arrival at FGW, everything has been repainted or replaced inside except the floor covering, the seat frames and seat backs and the purple luggage rack visible in this shot is also untouched. Other handrails have been painted. The magenta doors are also magenta on the inside (previously yellow, blue on the outside) along with the 'door open/close' buttons.
Above the 'A'/'B' doors (centre doors are 'C' doors) there are also carriage numbers displayed.
Finally, the yellow front ends have also been repainted.

142030 (FGW, NWT livery) ran ECS as 5Z56 Basford Hall-Springburn Works yesterday (23rd April). It should be the first of the 12 FGW 142s to receive the most recent works attention in Scotland.

142016 at Newcastle on 17th April, still in Arriva colours applied by Arriva Trains Northern.

The Arriva livery replaced the above attractive style applied by MTL owned Northern Spirit to just a handful of 142s, including 142050 photographed at Doncaster on 10/10/07. Most, if not all that had this style, now carry Northern colours whilst many still have Arriva livery.

142047 (Northern, Merseyrail livery) has returned from Glasgow Works, seen in service in Manchester on 23rd. Of the 011/012/014/032/046-048/052/058 batch which were to have been withdrawn, 014 and 047 have now both been to Glasgow for their major exams which were due.

Northern still have a daily 142 turn on the Cumbrian Coast line, which begins with the 2129 Preston-Barrow the previous night, the next day working a Barrow-Lancaster trip before heading around via Barrow to Carlisle and then heading back south. 142005 was stabled at Barrow sidings on 30/09/07.
